My name is Sharmaine Guthrie and I am passionate about art and professionally framed artwork. I started out as a legal secretary in London. Initially I loved my job but always felt that there was something missing.
I started picture framing around 15 years ago on a part time basis in my garage because I had huge jazz posters which needed to be framed and decided that I could probably frame them myself. Around this time my local college was doing an evening picture framing course, so I did the course and absolutely loved it.
That was enough inspiration and motivation and I gradually bought the equipment. I became GCF qualified (Guild Commended Framer) by the Fine Art Trade Guild and we are recommended by the Fine Art Trade Guild, and as they say ‘the rest is history’.
The original business Opal Frames was established for over 28 years; however Opal Picture Frames & Gallery has been under my management for the last 4 years. We work to conservation and museum standard and we frame anything. We specialise in both commercial and residential work. We are here to help you choose the right frame and mount board for your artwork. We have the largest selection of frames and mounts in the South East.
