Artist Profile

Mia Tarney Photo

Mia Tarney was born in Surrey in 1973 and educated at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art, London where she won a commendation from The Royal Society of Portrait Painters at her final year exhibition in 2001. After have success with larger than life size portraits she continued this idea with other subjects. She finds that enlarging the scale dramatically emphasises the form of the subject, it becomes more of a landscape of space and shape. Her ‘realistic’ approach envelops the canvas and entices the onlooker into the picture. Mia divides her time between London and France.
